Quarterly Newsletter

"I consider Market Mastery to be THE newsletter to read and it's the only one I subscribe to any more. There are hundreds of newsletters available to assist investors and traders. But, you will notice that few of them concentrate on the important aspects of trading—your own beliefs, biases and thought processes! Market Mastery focuses in on these key areas and many more. It will help you keep in alignment with your trading goals. It will also help you keep your trading and personal objectives clear. And, these are just a few of the reasons why Market Mastery is a "must read."

For instance, it may surprise you to learn, that you could make money from randomly entering the market if your exits are good, if you practice good position sizing™, and if you have the discipline to follow solid money-making rules. This newsletter will help you learn about the elements of success that are really important to making money in the market.

Ten Benefits You Get From Subscribing:

1. Solid information on designing and testing your system. You will get honest answers about what’s important and what’s not, what works in the market and what to avoid at all costs. We tell you what makes up a good system for making money in the market. When you know the truth, you’ll really have your eyes opened.

2. Learn competent position sizing™ techniques. Position sizing™ is the part of your business plan for trading the market that tells you "how much" you should risk in any one trade or investment. The question of "how much" should be a function of the equity in your account. The concept of position sizing™ is a simple one. Yet, most investors ignore it and more often than not, pay a high price for ignoring it.

3. You’ll learn about expectancy in detail. Without a positive mathematical expectation, a trader or investor is destined to lose. If a negative expectation method is continually used, eventually the trader/investor will lose all of their capital.

4. Information on how to set up your trading as a trading business.

5. Interviews with successful traders.

6. Critical insight into recognizing emotional and psychological traps that could sabotage your trading, including a regular peak performance tip.

7. Information about testing and trading your system that is often overlooked by other publications.

8. Models for assembling a complete trading system to help you profit more consistently in the market.

9. Learn what to expect and how to maximize your profits. Market Mastery provides an expanded framework for evaluating market concepts and ideas with a focus on objectives and honesty.

10. Financial freedom concepts, techniques and models.

Factors in Success
Author: Van Tharp

Hi Everyone,

I've been writing a four part Market Mastery [MM] on all of the factors that I think are important for success in the markets. Those four parts include (1) Factors that Build Consistency in Your Performance; (2) Factors involved in System Testing and Development (those two parts have been the last three issues of Market Mastery and the Sept issue has not yet been sent out). The last two parts (3) The You Factor: Consciousness, Discipline, and Inner Work; and (4) Financial Freedom will be in subsequent issues.

Anyway, I'm curious...how many forum readers subscribe to Market Mastery. And, if you do, what do you think of the current series.

Van

Van,

I have been a MM subscriber since December 2000, and post fairly regularly on this forum.

The current series is great- keep it up. Peak performance issues are a key area that I am working on right now, and have been since PP 101 in March of this year. I am especially looking forward to the next "installment", as discipline is an area that I really need to work on.

...It provides information that is hard to get anywhere else- cutting edge PP [Peak Performance]  material.

Thanks for everything.

Regards,

KT

Van-
I too subscribe to MM and I look forward to the insight you provide as a monthly reminder to continue working on myself. It is a great service and I buy it specifically for its content on trader psychology rather than a gurus pitch of the latest hot stock.

Thanks-
MS

I got a few free samples when i bought the Peak Performance Course
recently, prior to that i didn't really know about them.

I intend to subscribe.

I also want to buy selected back issues and might buy the whole back
catalog if I could get a good discount.

Hi Van,

I am glad that you asked because I consider MM to be THE newsletter to read and it's the only one I subscribe to anymore. IMHO, every other newsletter says what the market SHOULD be doing, but I finally figured out that it was screwing up my trading since what the market was doing and what it should be doing were hardly ever in agreement. MM offers things that I cannot find anywhere else.

I nearly sent you an e-mail about the Oct. 2003 issue (The Five Focus Levels of Investors) because that issue helped to open my eyes about the games I have been playing in the markets and in life. That issue is one of my favorites. As far as the current series goes, Part I was enlightening. Especially the comments about Tiger Woods and the section on commitment. Off the top of my head, the Chris Weber issues were excellent also.

In my case, BY FAR the most important part of my trading is me, since I mostly trade from gut feel/intuition. So I'm confident that Part III of your series will be my favorite issue of MM.

Thank you very much for your efforts,

PC

Dear Dr. Van Tharp, as a subscriber I appreciate your MM newsletter. To me, that's WHAT I WANT. I don't need newsletter to tell me the latest hot stocks - I just don't give a damn. I enjoy much more when you share the wisdom to consistent winning. In fact, I'm actually disappointed if you get too much into the market itself in your newsletter. I feel that it lost its main point if it delves into how the market is in a bear mode...
